From Queenstown in the South Island to Russell near the North of the North Island, "The Mermaids" have entertained audiences with their selection of beloved pop music, ensuring packed dance-floors whilst delighting the ears and eyes.
"The Mermaids" present a polished and professional musical entertainment experience; many tunes are choreographed and a variety of glamorous costumes appropriate to the occasion or theme are worn by Joe Cotton, Amber Claire and Pauline Berry.
Each singer, a distinctive lead vocalist in their own right, takes turns singing lead in various genres as well as blending in harmony on backing vocals. Accompanied by superb guitar playing, the overall sound is unique and of international standard. "The Mermaids" are also available as a vocal harmony backing group for local or international artists.

Background, Experience & Biographies
Each member of the group is a top vocalist/musician in their own right. Vocalist: Joe Cotton of "TrueBliss", the original Popstars lineup, whose album "Dream" sold double platinum in NZ, is also a well-known magazine cover girl, radio DJ and celebrity. She also won out over NZ Idol winners when she took the title of "Pop's Ultimate Star" in front of the television viewing nation during 2007.
Guitarist/Musical Director: Martin Winch achieved Platinum sales with his "Espresso Guitar" releases from 1997. Martin's most recent CD release was "Guitar Song" (Sony July 2004). Martin is an acclaimed NZ guitarist who has also tutored jazz guitar at Auckland University. He is the band's musical director.
He also performs with his 7 piece band The MARTIN WINCH BAND perform the music of CREAM & CLAPTON - which headlined recently at the Mt Maunganui Blues n Brews Festival in January 2010 More information: www.claptonshow.com
Amber Claire has been with the band since 1997. Click her name to read more about Amber. She has recorded two albums with SonyBMG which went Gold in sales and scored a top ten hit with "At 17" in 2004 with a remake of the Janis Ian song.
Vocalist/Manager: Pauline Berry is a singer with two decades experience of live performance and studio recording.
"The Mermaids" have been a part of some fabulous functions and are frequently recommended as the ideal band for weddings and similar events, adaptable to any size venue and occasion, from boats and outdoor arenas, vineyards, Town Halls, resorts and function rooms.
"The Mermaids" also can offer the specialist service of a solo vocalist performing a special special song at the ceremony itself, either acapella (unaccompanied) or with another instrument.
